We all know how important it is to get a good night sleep. Our mothers made us do it when we were little and everything you read about health & wellness starts with making sure you get 8 hours of sleep. In today's busy world, sometimes that's just not possible. Here are some tips to make the most of the beauty rest you DO get.
My aunt is in her 60's (and looks amazing) she takes really good care of her skin and it shows. On a recent trip to Neiman Marcus, she was told about the benefits of sleeping on a satin pillow case. She will never go back to cotton again. It all makes sense...Sleeping on a satin pillow case prevents wrinkles. Because it is so smooth, it causes less friction between your skin and the pillowcase. Your skin "glides" as opposed to sticking so everything just remains smooth throughout the night. It is also so much better for your hair. Due to the fibers, sleeping on a satin pillow case helps prevent knots, "bedhead" and breakage. It will even make your blow-dry last longer.
Ever since my friend Bre's post about the Muji humidifier, I have been obsessed. Not only does your room smell like a spa but the importance of it makes me even more into it. We all know how important it is to stay hydrated. Well, if you think about it, when you sleep you are getting zero hydration. Sleeping with a humidifier on helps keep that moisture in your skin and can also help prevent getting those winter colds.
It's obvious. We know how important it is, but so many of us forget how important it is to moisturizer at night. Depending on your skin type, some may need less moisture than others. A simple pharmacy brand like Cera Ve is amazing. Or you can use 100% hyaluronic acid which locks in moisture 1000 times better than moisturizer alone. You can use it on its own if you are oilier or combined with a moisturizer. I love Goldfaden MD as you know if you follow the blog, but there are so many good ones out there!!
Keeping your hair off your face while you sleep is really important. You don't want those oils on your face while you sleep. Make sure when you pull it back, you either use a silk scarf or loose elastic (maybe a scrunchy?) You also want to prevent breakage, especially around the hairline so make sure to keep it loose!
5. USE GREAT PRODUCTS THAT WORK OVERNIGHT!
Smooth a dab of this deep conditioner over tattered, fried ends, then let it absorb for a few minutes—which it actually does, without leaving a gross, slimy residue that gets all over your sheets. Vitamin C boosts shine, while a blend of omega-3 fatty acids packs tons of moisture to help condition weak strands. Wash it out during your morning shower.
This lip miracle has 14 essential oils including Bois De Rose, Lavender, Geranium, Petitgrain, Lemon, Rosemary, Vanilla, Clove, Amyris, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Cedar, and Rose Geranium, as well as lipid-rich plant oils that include Hazelnut, Kukui Nut, Rose Hip, Borage, Olive, Green Tea, Cherry Pit, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, and Evening Primrose, and is fortified with vitamins A, B5, C, and E. Put it on before you go to sleep and wake up with smooth, beautiful, kissable lips! This also helps your lipstick go on smoother and prevents those aging lines around your lips!
- HANDS: RETINOL HAND CREAM
I have talked about Goldfaden MD being amazing and I love it but it is pretty expensive for a hand cream. Here is one with Retinol as well at a much lower price point.
As you know, I am CONSTANTLY trying new eye creams. As soon as I run out of one, I try a new one. Some say this is the best because your skin never has a chance to get used to it and therefore is constantly working. NEOCUTIS is my eye cream of the moment, but this one I may stick with for a very long time. It almost makes your under eyes glow. I really want to use this for an extended period of time to see the results over long term because short term, this stuff amazed me!!
With regular use, this conditioner will help fill in missing patches or overly tweezed brows!
- FEET: SOAP & GLORY HEEL GENIUS
This super moisturizing cream will smooth even the roughest feet! Simply rub some on, slip into a pair of cozy socks and wake up with baby soft feet in the morning.
