Sunday Rileys Good Genes

Hi my loves! Yesterday, I posted the above photo on Instagram and told you how much I have been loving Sunday Riley's Good Genes. I had heard about this for awhile and have been wanting to try it. I am always apprehensive about trying new stuff because of my super sensitive, acne prone skin but I can't help it. I love products!! Ok so heres the deal with the stuff, it is a lactic acid treatment meant to be used as a treatment underneath your makeup or at night. You can also mix it with their ceramic slip clay cleanser and leave on your skin for 10 minutes for a flash facial.

Because my skin is so sensitive and acne prone, I decided to use it as a mask. I put it on my clean skin and left it on for 15 minutes. THIS MADE MY SKIN GLOW! I am in love with it!! I have used it a few times now and have not broken out from it yet. My skin just feels tighter and the texture seems smoother. The purpose of this treatment is to smooth lines, clarify and retexturize the skin leaving an instant radiance. I am definitely a fan!!

Ok guys, this is a very sensitive topic for me, one in which I am extremely passionate about. I have heard so many Dermatologists say that what you eat has nothing to do with your breakouts or what your skin looks like. This is absolute bullshit!! What you put into your system absolutely, 100% shows on the outside. Let's dive into this a little deeper.

Ok guys, you know as  much as I preach "find something that works and stick to it" I can't help but still explore and experiment with new products. While trying to keep my sensitive acne prone skin clear, I find sometimes I am missing antioxidant protection and sometimes my skin dries out from my prescription strength Tazorac. Recently, my facialist Shani Darden recommended

Honey and Lemon - ingredients for the face mask *This article was originally posted on the amazing beauty site by Sarah Howard

Actress Kelly Kruger goes on the hunt for the face mask of all face masks: one that will lighten, tighten and brighten – and leaves the beauty counter empty handed. Yet, from her refrigerator, she concocts the perfect facial remedy. Feast your eyes – and your face – on this: a natural, homemade face mask that will soothe, smooth, heal and even out skin tone for under $7 dollars! And the genius of DIY beauty products is that they can be made with contents that you likely have in your kitchen.

Explains Kelly: “When I think of lemon and honey together, the first thing that comes to mind is a soothing tea for a sore throat. I never would have thought that these 2 ingredients would be the answer to all of my beauty prayers. I have really sensitive, acne-prone skin and I have spent thousands of dollars trying to find the right creams and serums to help with my problem. Until a really sweet lady at a Neiman Marcus counter (where I was yet again going to spend more money on stuff that probably wouldn’t work) gave me this amazing advice:

Honey Jar

Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-infammatory. It absorbs impurities from the pores and the skin. Ancient beauties used honey and milk on their skin regularly to keep their complexion looking young, radiant and smooth. You can use honey as a wash, toner or mask. And you can mix it with so many other ingredients depending on your needs (apples, pumpkin, papaya. yogurt). It’s quite versatile.

Lemon plate

Lemon brightens and exfoliates. It’s great for acne prone skin, age and sun spots or uneven skin tone. It is also a natural source of vitamin C and rich in alpha hydroxy acids.

Here’s how to make the DIY Honey/ Lemon Mask: Squeeze 1/2 a lemon (organic is always better) into a bowl, add 2 tbsp of honey (0rganic, raw, natural ). Mix it with a spoon until it’s a liquid consistency. Apply it all over a clean face avoiding eye area. *Also make sure that your hair is pulled back away from your face as the mask is rather sticky! Leave on for 15-20 min and rinse off. If you’re feeling really adventurous, try and sleep with it on.”

Let me know if you try it and how it works!
