Hi beauties! I have had requests to share what I do to keep my hair healthy. There are many factors that go into caring for your hair but one of the main things (and I know you probably don't want to hear this) comes from the inside. Diet actually plays a huge role on hair health. Sometimes I feel like I come on here and preach about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and that's because I believe in it and the results BUT I also believe in moderation. I eat the crap too guys! I splurge and indulge like anyone but I do try to make sure I get back on track at least most of the week. Healthy eating, vitamins, water and exercise are super important.
Now onto the outside... Healthy eating alone will not keep your hair in good shape, especially if you process it or style a lot like I do. Because of my job, my hair is constantly subjected to heat and product build up. One of the main things (and I have posted about this before) is using a clarifying shampoo once a week. Clarifying shampoo will remove product build up that regular shampoo will not. If you don't use a lot of product during the week, this step isn't necessary.
For my daily routine, I rotate shampoo and conditioner every time I wash my hair. This way, your hair never gets used to one product so I feel like it always does what it's supposed to do. In other words, whenever we use something too much it stops working because it's almost like we build up an immunity to it. Right now, I rotate between Alternas Caviar Repair RX Instant Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner and this new shampoo called Marula which is made with marula oil. I love this shampoo and conditioner so much! Not only does it smell amazing but it makes your hair feel like silk! The combination of these 2 brands helps keep my hair shiny and healthy because they both actually repair and protect the hair as opposed to just using a silicone to make it "feel" smooth. Your hair actually IS healthy and doesn't just appear to be. Sometimes I will also use a hair mask once a week but at the moment I am just using Schwarzkopf Bonacure Repair Rescue Treatment You put this on your ends after you get out of the shower and leave it in. It seals in the hair and repairs split ends and breakage. I just started using it and right now I love it! Before this step though, I spray in my It's a 10 leave in conditioner ( I have been using it for years and there is nothing like it!) I then brush my wet hair with a Tangle Teezer.
These are my steps for daily hair care. I will also do a post on styling products and what I use to style and blow dry.
Why do I love George Papanikolas? let me count the ways! I have kind of been having a battle with my hair color lately. I tend to jump around to a lot of different colorists to try out new things. While everyone I went to was great, nobody really understood what I meant when I said I wanted to make my hair pop. While I thought my color was pretty, I also found it a little bland. With summer coming up I really wanted to brighten up my hair. I sat down in George's chair and didn't have to say a word. He started painting on highlights and knew exactly what I wanted! The result? Bright, beautiful, golden blonde hair! I couldn't be happier and am so happy I finally found my mane man (I had to do it, come on)
Do you guys have any hair secrets or routines? I love hearing from you! Feel free to leave them in the comment section below! XO
