ISLAND STYLE//SWEATSHIRT COVER UP

IMG_3414So I think we've established that I happen to get cold pretty easily. This is why this oversized V-neck sweatshirt is the perfect beach accessory for me. I can wear it over a bathing suit (Its longer in the back so almost acts as a mini dress) I also wear it to the gym or to lounge around the house in. It's cozy & adorable! I have a few of these from Victoria's Secret. I happen to love the quality and the price isn't too bad either. They come in about 5 different colors and designs.IMG_3411

As for my hair, I love beach hair!! I love getting out of the water and just letting it air dry. Sometimes I like it off my face but want to keep it down so this is the perfect solution. Just make 2 small braids on each side of your face and pull them back. Either use a bobby pin or small elastic and you're ready to go!

On vacation I certainly lay off the makeup. You want your skin to breathe. But I ALWAYS wear a sunscreen and reapply often. Also, because I keep my face out of the sun. If my body gets dark and I don't want to look too pale, I will use Urban Decays Naked Flushed Palette that includes a bronzer, blush and highlighter. It is really convenient for travel and give a nice beautiful glow!

DENIM & LACE

Denim & Lace

I know for most of you it is pretty cold out there right now so you will probably hate this post (and possibly a few more to follow) but before we know it, summer will be here so why not get ready and excited?! I happen to be on vacation right now so if you are as well, or might be planning a trip somewhere soon or just want to be inspired for spring/summer, this casual look is a definite go to. These lace shorts are only $14 dollars and you can only get them online. They come in 4 different colors. I suggest snatching them up now! I will be living in them all summer. Here, I paired them with one of my favorite denim shirts. This one is a very old one by Earl Jeans (Similar here) and some Sam Edelman Sandals.  The bag is a great one by TopShop. It fits all my stuff and isn't too heavy.(Similar here) I topped off the look by throwing my hair up in a bun, no makeup (but lots of sunscreen!) and some Tiffany's sunglasses. ( Similar here and here)

TRAVEL OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Airport

I don't know about you guys but figuring out what to wear on a travel day is always so tricky for me. I know I have posted about this before but here goes. If you are going to a hot climate, you don't want to be too warm so you are dying of heat when you get there. Yet the airports and planes are always freezing! If you are going to a cold climate, you want to make sure you are prepared when you get there but there is nothing worse than sweating your way through the airport because you are wearing too many layers. So here is an example of the perfect travel day outfit in my opinion. In this case, I am headed to a hot, tropical climate.

This Tribal Cardigan sweater from Forever 21 is my perfect solution (and for $27 you really can't beat it!) It is long and almost "blanket like" where I can wrap up and be cozy. It's not too heavy but warm enough. It happens to look amazing and is really comfortable. I paired it with my j brand  jeans which are so comfortable. They fit really well and are flattering but never feel too tight for those long flights. They have a great stretch to them. As for footwear, You guys know how much I love Rag & Bone booties. They are truly the only heeled boot I can walk around in all day and be comfortable. They also aren't too hot for when I reach my destination. (Of course I throw on my sandals when I get there) I complete my look with an adorable 90's scrunchie that makes me  feel very much like a kid but also  happens to protect your locks and is comfy to wear around your wrist when your hair is down.

I also make sure to always have an extra pair of socks and scarf or sweatshirt in my carry on in case the plane is extra cold that day!

TRAVEL WORKOUTS! (And staying healthy on the go!)

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard people use the excuse that it's too hard to workout on the go, especially when traveling. Ok, I am one of those people. I have used the fact that I'm traveling and it's too hard to find the time. The truth is, there is always time. It all depends how badly you want it. I have discovered that the easiest way to stay fit on the go is to bring some DVD's with you. Sure, most hotels have gyms and you can always make that work. But I have found for me, whether I'm traveling for work or pleasure, I always have more success just waking up and doing a DVD. My two favorites at the moment are Tracy Anderson & Cardio Barre.

When doing Cardio Barre, I improvise by using the hotel room chair as a bar and a water bottle as weights. This way I don't have to travel with the weights.

Hotel room workouts

My favorite Tracy DVD's are in the metamorphosis package but I find The Perfect Design Series is great for hotel room purposes. If you are able to travel with ankle weights and/or have a gym in your hotel, then I HIGHLY recommend the meta series.  I knew that I would be away for awhile so I did travel with my ankle weights, 3 pound hand weights, my Tracy Meta DVD's and her new dance one which is amazing for cardio! I would turn the heat up in my hotel room and sweat while doing fun dance routines.

Another option too, is to look for local gyms and classes (Pilates, Yoga, Barre) Those are always fun and you can find them anywhere if time permits. While filming The Blue Mountain State Movie in Wilmington North Carolina, Frankie Shaw and I found the most amazing Pilates studio called Lithe Core Pilates and worked out with Shepherd. She is AMAZING and we highly recommend her!

DIET

As for diet, the catering on this movie was the best catering we have ever had! Everything was delicious and healthy.

  • Breakfast: Egg whites with tomato, spinach & onion, 2 pieces of turkey bacon and a slice of gluten free bread.
  • Lunch: One piece of protein, salad, veggies and a carb like rice or potatoes.
  • Dinner: Salmon, salad and potatoes.
  • In between for snacks I would have a power bar and a scoop of tuna with pickles.

Because we had started the 90 day food challenge and we were on location, it was extra challenging. But the catering department cooked so healthy that I feel like all those days counted! On our days off, we had gone to Whole Foods and stocked up our fridge with healthy things like carrots & hummus, Kefir, fruits & veggies and some turkey meat for protein. Of course we also had snacks like gluten free crackers, chips and cookies for the weekend. (You have to live after all) but it's all about balance!! I am a potato chip addict, So sometimes what I will do is keep pickles around, the crunch and salt tricks me into believing I am eating my chips!

In these pictures I am wearing Nike Pro Hyperwarm leggings  it was cold in North Carolina so I picked up a pair of these while there. They are the comfiest, most amazing workout pants! It was also so much fun to step outside my usual black leggings for these fun colors!
